The Mawarid and Gulf Rock Engineering LLC teams are working closely in the planning and execution of the mining activities. The Ghuzayn 3 Project, which is one of the projects supported by the Implementation, Support, and Follow-up Unit of Vision 2040 after rigorous studies, proceeded through its first development stage over a year ago and was inaugurated under the auspices of HE. The Ghuzayn 3 Project decline development has exceeded 500 meters, with the Mawarid and Gulf Rock Engineering LLC teams working closely in the planning and execution of the mining activities. The Ghuzayn 3 Project aims to develop and mine the 6.4 million ton ore body, with a grade of 2.04% Cu, which will be processed at the Lasail Concentrator in Northern Al Batinah and exported from Oman’s strategic position. Copper ore is highly valued for its use in various industries including construction, green renewable energy, and electronics.

Mawarid Completes Bulk Shipment of 7,500 Wet Metric Tonnes of Copper Concentrates Posted on February 12, 2025 - 8:25 pm by Abrar Mawarid Completes Bulk Shipment of 7,500 Wet Metric Tonnes of Copper Concentrates Mawarid Mining LLC (“Mawarid”), the Mining arm of the MB Group of Companies, is pleased to announce its first bulk shipment of copper concentrates produced at the Lasail Copper Concentrator using ore from the Al Ghuzayn Copper Mine, with 7,500 wmt of copper concentrates being loaded at a grade of +18.5% copper contained. The bulk shipment loading was completed at Sohar Port , and the concentrate cargo is being exported to China for further treatment and refining, under the offtake agreement with Trafigura PTE Limited. Mawarid continues the ramp up of the Al Ghuzayn Mine, supported by the mining contractor Gulf Rock Engineering LLC. To date, Mawarid has mined over 222,000 tonnes of ore and completed over 5,000 meters of underground primary and secondary development. Mawarid has also achieved the major milestone of over 1,000,000 workhours without Lost Time Injuries, which have accumulated during the construction, refurbishment, development and operations at the Ghuzayn Mine and Lasail Concentrator. Mawarid’s Managing Director Mr. Tariq Al Barwani said: “Mawarid has been able to develop the Ghuzayn Mine and refurbish the Lasail concentrator with the support of our equity and debt partners, in collaboration with the various contractors working at each of the operations. We are particularly pleased with 1.0 million LTI-free work hours being achieved, showcasing our commitment to safe working processes and standards. The progress of the mine ramp up and achieving the 1st bulk shipment of 7,500 wmt, which is in accordance with the feasibility study, shows an excellent effort by the Mawarid team, our funding and contractual partners. Mawarid is not only focused on operational excellence but is also committed to contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development and long-term growth in line with Oman’s vision 2040 which includes a building a productive and diversified economy.” Our Lasail Concentrator is processing the ore at a rate of 100wmt per hour Mawarid’s Lasail Concentrator is processing the Ghuzayn ore at a rate of 100wmt per hour and producing saleable concentrate. The feed grade of the ore processed at the Lasail Concentrator is averaging 1.85% Cu, resulting in a concentrate grade of +19.0% Cu in concentrate, with a moisture level of 9.02%. Conducting a Preparatory Drill to Assess Emergency Preparedness at the Ghuzayn Copper Mine Posted on November 11, 2024 - 5:49 am by Abrar Conducting a Preparatory Drill to Assess Emergency Preparedness at the Ghuzayn Copper Mine Press Release | November 2024 As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency response readiness, and in continuous coordination with relevant governmental and community entities, Mawarid Mining Company carried out a joint preparatory drill at the Ghuzayn Copper Mine site. The exercise involved the participation of the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority team in Wilayat Al Khaboura, the local Health Complex team, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety teams from Mawarid Mining and Gulf Rock Company. The drill formed part of a comprehensive plan to test existing emergency procedures. It simulated an incident involving an injured worker inside the mine and activated the pre-established emergency plan. The exercise covered all stages of response, starting with receiving the emergency call, coordinating between the different teams, and ending with transferring the injured person in accordance with approved medical protocols. A full-scale drill is scheduled to be conducted at a later stage, during which Civil Defense and Ambulance equipment will be utilized, along with advanced simulations of emergency medical procedures at the Khaboura Health Complex. This integrated coordination among all concerned entities aims to enhance response effectiveness and ensure the safety of workers at vital operational sites.
