Chairman Signs Agreement for Potash Ore

Chairman Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani has signed an agreement on behalf of Mawarid Mining LLC with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals for the responsible Exploration and Extraction of Potash ore.

This agreement is part of Mawarid Mining’s continued efforts to responsibly provide the vital ores which are needed for many different sectors. Potash is used in the fertilizer industry among other important uses which require potassium. It is mostly mined from underground deposits left behind by seabeds that evaporated in the far past.

From the ministry side, a statement read:

“Through the delineation of concession areas within the mining sector, the Ministry aims to address the challenges associated with the previous application system. Its efforts involve the establishment of an integrated database that contains geological, geophysical, and exploratory surveys spanning all regions of the Sultanate. Moreover, it aims at securing consistent and sustainable opportunities for exploration and mining in Oman, safeguarding mineral ore sites from urban sprawl, and designating several areas that accommodate this economically valuable ore location.”

Mawarid Planting Trees in Al Ghuzayn and Lasail

Mawarid Mining LLC took the initiative in collaboration with the Environment Authority of Oman to plant 200 indigenous trees near its Al Ghuzayn Underground Copper Mine and its Copper Processing Plant in Lasail.
